It all starts with a dream

Rarely does anyone builds a structure, house or piece of architecture for no reason. Often it starts with a dream. The dream home. Room for the new baby. A new headquarters for a sucessful company. A science building for life saving research. A jail for a safer community. The list goes on.

However building codes are intended to prevent the nightmares that abruptly end the dream. Fire. Structural Collapse. Legionaires Disease. Sick Building Syndrome. This list also goes on.

This blog is about these code issues. Some are compelling. Some are irritating. And some just make you down right enraged.
But they all are the rules by which Owners, Architects, Engineers and Contractors must abide by so the dream doesn’t become the nightmare. Unfortunately, in the effort to avoid the nightmare creates its own set of bad dreams… lawsuits, delays in permitting, or people throw their hands up and build without oversight (permits)… which usually becomes the next owners nightmare.

Dreams and Nightmares… I prefer the dreams; it’s more fun.
